VIP Features and Points
Extended program features - three types of advice on the next step that also make sure the solving steps are correct. You may also use tipping sequences - uniquely created to easily solve any Puzzle. „Small advice" and „Big advice" are available to all users. VIP features „Advise number“ and „Try to guess“ come with one's active VIP membership. You may learn more about them in the Get advice and Try to guess sections.
Points are accumulated in your profile on two points account: „Game points“ and „Current point account“.
Game points are the sum of points only for played games, remains on the account and with each new solved game raise.
The current point account is the sum of received points per game, recommendations or other bonuses. These points can be used for obtain a VIP membership. After obtaining VIP membership these points will be deducted.
Every difficulty level features its point value. It is credited to your current point account for every new and successfully solved Puzzle (unless you use the Advise number function or error identification too often and use up your points that come with the game).
As soon as you accumulate seven thousand points in your Profile, your current point account will feature the active Use points button. Subsequently, the same feature will be provided by the orange crown next to your Point account above the bar. When you click on one of these options, you will be able to use your seven thousand points to obtain free VIP membership for 21 more days.
You can also increase your current point account balance by recommending the application to your friends. Their registration will earn you a specific number of VIP points. If they purchase VIP membership for any period of time, you will receive the same number days of VIP membership free.
Once your VIP membership expires and you do not wish to wait until a specific number of points accumulate in your current point account and decide to use the available benefits immediately, you may simply press Obtain VIP and select one of the options available through the pre-set packages (if you extend it, unused days will be added to your newly obtained days).
You can see your VIP membership expiration date in the My VIP section or in the Profile section ("VIP status").
More information on your VIP benefits is available in the VIP Benefits and VIP Points sections.
The application time is set according to GMT world time.
New Game / Saved Games
Once you click on the New Game option in the Game menu (in the basic menu on the top bar), a new game of the last selected Sudoku difficulty level or type will become available (the same will happen when you press the logo). You can choose a Sudoku type you like from the list or you can use the Game green button.
Every new Puzzle comes with VIP points for its first solution. Unless you use them up by frequently using Get advice, they will be credited to your points account.
Saved games - this section will be available in Game menu under New game item after logging in. Once your VIP membership expires, you always have access to your last 10 saved games. Upon its activation, all the games saved so far become available again. Completed Sudoku games are saved as unsolved Puzzles. Their repeated completions do not earn any VIP points though.
Saved games are sorted in descending order, starting with the last saved one. You may also sort your saved games according to their features in the individual columns. Once you click on a line with a selected saved game, its details will display. You will be able to see the Puzzle, best time, option to change its comments, delete it or continue the game.
If you play a saved game and complete it, this game gets automatically saved again and its status is overwritten by the most recent one. It will also move to the top position as the most recently saved one. During repeated views, its details will show up to the three best times and actual time and penalization associated with the highlighted / selected game time.
All the generated Sudoku Puzzles are correct; therefore, they only feature one solution.
If, for example, you are reading a magazine and come across a Sudoku Puzzle that you are unable to solve, you may try to solve it via the features of the PlaySudoku.eu application. You just select a Sudoku type, insert at least 16 specified numbers as per the basic duplicity rules, and start playing by pressing the Play button (for users not logged in) or the Save and Play button (for users who are logged in). If your specified values are inserted incorrectly (i.e., the subsequent steps would result in a duplicate error), you will be invited to correct them.
The originally specified Sudoku will remain saved in the Library of custom puzzles where you may also use the "Modify Puzzle" option in opened details. Your modified Puzzle will then replace the original one. In the case of more difficult Puzzles, you may appreciate the extended program features that come with VIP membership.
In the case of extremely difficult Puzzles or Puzzles with multiple solutions or the need to use tipping, the next advice step and checking of completed steps features are inactive. After other correct steps, they will become available again and you will be informed about it.
Notes are only inserted at this moment as per the basic duplicity rules. In addition to notes, we recommend using tipping sequences, which are primarily created for this type of Puzzle in a comprehensive and detailed manner. They make all the correct Puzzles (even if they seem to require tipping) solvable by the user themselves.
You may add your custom note to a newly created Puzzle. If you play and then save it, your original note (without any subsequent modification) will be transferred with the currently saved game to your saved games.
Time penalization occurring when you use Get advice for your custom puzzles matches penalization associated with easy difficulty level Puzzle. You earn no VIP points for your custom puzzles.
All of your custom puzzles will be saved in their specified or modified condition in the Library of custom puzzles. Upon VIP membership expiration, the last 10 ones will always be displayed. Upon its renewal, all the already saved Sudoku Puzzles will become available again.
Hall of Fame / Personal Score
In the Hall of Fame it is possible with every kind of difficulty to show your the best time to others, on the first 50 positions. In case of identical game times (sum of actual time and game penalties), the player with lower penalization will rank higher. If you achieve a ranking, you will see your record highlighted.
Only time achieved through newly loaded game uninterrupted by Pause, Saving, or use of the Restart or Solve features will be recorded in the Hall of Fame. Also, the available game points may not be completely used up either.
Here will be displayed players with the most amount of Points per game.
Based on your profile settings, other players may also see your Avatar and your selected country's flag.
Your Personal Score (available in the Hall of Fame or Profile) features data on your achieved solving times (10 best times in every difficulty level) and you may compare them with other players' results. If the time of the first position will be very good, it will also be displayed in the Hall of Fame.
The game also contains an interesting feature - an automatic incorrect solution detection systém to prevent insertion of copy-pasted values. When such a solution is detected, you may lose the opportunity to enter the Hall of fame and gain points for that game. However, you would be still able to complete and save your game.
Common Game Features
Game - It will save your incomplete Sudoku in its current state in the submenu on the Saved Games bar (including your incomplete custom puzzle). Only logged in users may save their games. You may use a dialogue window and attach your custom note to a game to be saved.
If this or any other confirmation window disturbs you, you may hide it next time. You may reactivate them in your Settings. The option of inserting or changing game comments, including highlighting, remains available in the saved game's opened details.
Every game Puzzle is saved only once and if it is saved again, its completion status is overwritten by its most recent status (including any potentially remaining points).
Restart - This will return the game to its original status in new time. By using this option, you lose the chance to rank in the Hall of Fame and your drawn VIP points do not get renewed.
Solve - This is suitable, for example, when printing your Puzzle if you wish to check the solution on a sheet of paper.
If your completed steps are wrong, errors will be removed and the error cells will be marked red.
This action prevents you from being ranked in the Hall of Fame and obtaining game points.
Print - You may print out an incomplete Puzzle and complete it on a sheet of paper. Before printing, we recommend highlighting some printing features and background graphics in your browser due to diagonals and centers.
Numbers may be inserted and easily overwritten by other values either via your keyboard or mouse. You may use the virtual keys located to the right of the Puzzle. You may overwrite a wrong value directly so there is no need to delete it first.
Browsing among the cells is possible through your keyboard arrow keys or marking a specific cell with your mouse - this active cell is initially highlighted in a yellow shade.
Puzzle values cannot be changed in any way and their cells cannot be marked.
Active cell values or notes may be deleted by the Delete button or the "D" key.
For quick number deleting press the same number again.
The "Back" button takes you one step back inside the game grid. It impacts your highlighted active game cell as well. It also brings back your current tipping sequence, including the number below the grid. The Back button will also delete any program-inserted notes. Manually inserted notes will remain unchanged.
By using the
If you are bothered by various confirmation windows (for example, those that ask you to save incomplete games), you may turn off any future display directly in the window and then turn them on again in Settings.
The blue informative features a clear list of shortcut keys. This list is printable.
The other blue info question marks contain common notifications; therefore, there is no immediate need to use the program Help (in particular, the question mark below the game grid often provides current information).
You may modify the program layout as you wish. In fact, you may set everything - boldness of inserted numbers, active cell colors or even hide /show various dialogues.
Display of smileys - This original feature will definitely make the game much livelier. If you are bothered by any smileys with their well targeted notes, you can easily turn them off as well.
Immediate Duplicity Check - This feature immediately identifies an error / typo; however, only in line with the basic number duplicity rules. A value marked by this feature as "wrong" may, in fact, be correct (although duplicate). On the contrary, the previously inserted value that contributes to duplicity may be wrong (therefore, this feature does not replace the Check of steps feature). However, values marked as duplicate in relation to Puzzle values are always wrong.
Highlighting of Inserted Numbers - This feature warns you of the locations of individual already inserted / specified numbers.
Puzzle Boldness, Game Grid Size and Color Backgrounds of various cells may be completely modified as you wish.
Note Shade - If you no longer need any inserted notes but you do not wish to remove them yet (Delete all option), you may brighten them and vice versa. Brightening also improves your game organization when you insert values.
Dialog Windows - This option lets you hide / show individual confirmation windows or data on penalization mostly contained in smileys' notes during Get advice the next time you play.
This Setting will remain saved after pressing the Confirm button even after you log off and in.
Using your keyboard or the virtual keys, you may insert potential options - notes - into every active cell.
If you re-press a number that has already been inserted as a note, it will be deleted.
If you insert a value into a cell with notes, this value will overwrite the previously inserted notes. On the other hand, if you insert a note into a completed cell, the inserted value will be overwritten. All this will happen without any need to delete any active cell first.
Switching between Notes and Values - You may switch between Inserting notes and Inserting values either directly through the virtual keys (Values / Notes) or by pressing the "C" key. Your current selection also becomes bold.
Insert - This feature will insert notes in all the incomplete cells in line with the basic number duplicity rules. Every note insertion triggers a minor penalization of +10 seconds (displayed below the grid, next to the real time).
Automatically inserted notes will overwrite manually inserted notes as well; however, the previous colors of cells with notes will remain unchanged. Once you press the Back button, the inserted notes will disappear and the previously manually inserted notes will be displayed again.
In the case of wrong steps , notes will not be inserted and you will be prompted to correct errors, which you may see. The correction of errors will trigger the same penalization as the Check of wrong steps feature. If you select the do not display errors option (the same applies to the hidden window used to display errors), only a +20 s penalization will follow (as with the Small Advice) for wrong step identification.
Delete All - If none of your notes is needed, this feature will delete all of your inserted and manually inserted notes. The Back button will take you back to the previous status.
Note Color - You may select the color for your active cell with inserted notes (click on a color cell located next to Color). You confirm by pressing the Color button.
The notes in these cells will stay color-marked even after the program inserts all the notes.
This aid is mostly suitable for more difficult Puzzles and especially for marking hidden numbers and hidden / blocking pairs, triples, and quads (more information in the Solving Techniques section - hidden pairs, triples, quads...).
Small Advice - This help will identify a line, column or square allowing subsequent steps or, contrary to that, items with errors requiring corrections of some of the inserted values (if used, this feature will trigger a +10s penalty and a double penalty in the case of wrong steps).
Big Advice - This unique help will display a specific cell, which is available for subsequent steps, or it will apply a red background to incorrectly completed cells (its application triggers a +15s penalty and a double penalty in the case of wrong steps).
The program identifies potential cells through a few simultaneously applied different solving methods (starting with the simplest one); therefore, the right number may not immediately clear after using help. Review the whole Sudoku again or use your notes or tipping sequences.
Advise number - This feature will insert a specific number or mark an incorrectly inserted value and identify a correct one. To keep the game organized, it does not directly overwrite the wrong value with the new one (also due to possible number duplicity and tipping features).
In the case of multiple errors, it will also identify cells featuring the 1st wrong steps.
Time penalties differ according to the difficulty level:
- Beginner +20s
- Easy +25s
- Medium +30s
- Hard, diagonal, and center Squares +35s
- Nightmare +40s
To keep the game fair, the use of this advice also deducts a proportional amount (10%) of VIP points that come with every new game. Once you use up your game points, you will not be able to get your game entered in your Personal Score or the Hall of Fame.
This advice may only be used 10 times. If necessary, once it is exhausted, you may still use the active Solve feature even though it is better for VIP members to use their tipping sequences.
Check my steps - This feature will check currently inserted values and inform you about correct or wrong solutions. In the case of wrong steps, incorrectly completed cells will be marked red.
If your completed steps are wrong, time and point penalty are in the same way as if you use the Advise number feature (for example, Normal +30s, -3 points).
Correct steps trigger no penalties.
Try to guess
This unique program feature is most suitable for the most difficult Puzzles when you really have no idea what to do next. If you use the common tipping method, every correct Puzzle may be solved (more information in the Solving Techniques section - Tipping).
Inserted numbers from a total of ten available tipping sequences feature different colors. The first tipped number is bold and underlined. Thanks to that, it becomes immediately clear during subsequent solving whether the currently inserted tipping sequence is wrong; therefore, it prevents any correct subsequent steps. Correction of this error in the first tipping sequence is, in the case of selecting from only two potential tipping options, another correct technique.
Inserted tipping numbers feature the same weights as the other inserted values (therefore, it is not necessary to confirm these numbers first in order to complete the game).
Notes inserted automatically and manually during tipping have no impact on number tipping (it is only postponed). If you rewrite a tipped value with a note, you will actually delete it. The effect is the same as if you used the Delete feature.
Data on the actual / active tipping sequence will be displayed below the game grid.
Start Tip - When you press this button for the first time, the program will switch into Tipping mode and the first tipping sequence value will reach your selected active cell.
Upon pressing Start Tip again - Another tip (upon inserting at least one value of the current sequence), you will add another tipping sequence.
When the tipping mode is active it is impossible to insert common values; however, you may insert notes.
Tip Cancel - This feature will delete the currently active tipping sequence.
Upon deleting the first bold-highlighted number (as in the case of rewriting it with another value), the subsequent tipping values will be deleted in the given sequence.
Upon rewriting or deleting any color value through another currently active sequence, this current tipping sequence will be canceled and replaced by a new (or following) one.
If there is a typo, you can easily correct it by pressing the Back button.
Confirm Tip - By pressing this button, you will confirm the insertion of all the numbers from the current tipping sequence.
Accepted numbers are automatically colored black and they are considered as regular inserted values.
Change Tip - This feature allows switching between initiated tipping sequences. If, for example, there is a conflict between two tipping sequences in one cell and you do not wish to delete either of them, you may return to any previous location and modify its value. The feature is only available with another tipping sequence.
By pressing a number selected from the offer above this button, you activate your selected sequence and continue inserting its values. Data on its current location will also be displayed below the grid.
You may use the same procedure to return to your last tipping sequence or you may initiate a new one by pressing the Next Tip button.
Once you insert the last number, a window showing your game time, loss or victory will be displayed and the game will become inactive.
Typo - If the last cell completion fails, it will be considered a potential typo and a subsequent dialogue window will let you correct this error.
After you select Yes , the game grid with the displayed error and game features will remain active.
The final victory table (game completion) will only be activated by your correctly inserted last value.
If you select No, the final loss table will be directly activated.
Since in this case the program watches proper completion for you, this last cell error identification will trigger a small penalty as in the case of the Check steps feature and a wrong solution.
All this only applies if your grid currently features no other - still not corrected - error. Otherwise, the final Loss table will be directly activated.
Loss - If you insert wrong numbers, information on your loss will be displayed and you have these options:
- New game - Another Puzzle will be loaded at the given difficulty level.
- Play again - Your currently completed Sudoku will be activated again.
- Save - This feature will save your original Puzzle in its Incomplete state. Simultaneously, a new game is started in the last type of solved Sudoku.
- OK - This will close the window so you can review your errors in the highlighted cells.
Once you select Play again or Save and play again, you will be able to correct this Puzzle.
Victory - If all the numbers are inserted correctly, a victory announcement with the following options will be displayed:
- New Game - This starts another game at the last difficulty level.
- Play Again - To improve your achieved time, you may play the same Puzzle again.
- Save - This will save your game in the original Puzzle and you may directly solve another Puzzle.
- OK - This will close the window. Upon clicking the green New Game button, you may select another type of Sudoku.
If you are logged in and your achieved game time (sum of your actual game time and penalties) was very good, your name will be added to the relevant ranking in the Hall of Fame (unless you did not use up your assigned game points through frequent use of Get advice). You will see your record highlighted among the other records.
Your final time will also be shown in your Personal Score ranking.
Simultaneously, your points for the solved Sudoku will be credited to your points account.
When you play and complete an already saved game its previous status will be automatically overwritten by the new one. The "Save" option will be replaced by the "Saved Games" offer, in which you will be able to see up to the three best achieved times for this Puzzle or modify game comments.
